When acting as the administrator of a forum such as your phpBB site, you will want to customize the behavior of posts. This allows a custom feel for your site as well as enabling features you want your members to have access to, or disabling options you want to limit. Below are explanations of the different parameters and options for your posts that are found in your phpBB 3.0 administrative section.<\/p>\n

Managing and editing post settings in phpBB 3.0<\/h2>\n

  1. Log into your phpBB admin dashboard<\/a>.<\/li>\n
  2. From there, click on the General<\/strong> tab if the screen is not already focused on it.<\/li>\n
  3. From the General tab you will see there several categories on the left hand sidebar. Click on the Post settings<\/strong> link found under the Board Configuration<\/em> category.

  4. This leads you to the Post Settings <\/em>page, which is divided into two separate sections. The first is the general options section, which allows you to enable and disable specific attributes of post settings. The second area is the posting settings, which are customizable parameters forpost behavoir.

    Allow subscribing to topics<\/th>\nSelect Yes to allow members the ability to subscribe to topics of their choice.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
    Allow subscribing to forums<\/th>\nIf enabled, allows members to subscribe to forums of their choice.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
    Allow BBCode<\/th>\nAllows BBCode to be used in posts and private messages.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
    Allow use of [FLASH] BBCode tag in posts<\/th>\nSpecifically allows the use of the [FLASH] BBCode tag for embedding flash into a post or message.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
    Allow smilies<\/th>\nSetting to Yes will allow the use of emoticons in posts and private messages.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
    Allow links in posts\/private messages<\/th>\nAllows the use of hyperlinks in posts and messages when enabled.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
    Allow disabling of word censoring<\/th>\nIf activated, users will be allowed to turn off word censoring for posts and messages they view.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
    Allow bookmarking topics<\/th>\n\u00a0Allows members to bookmark favorite topics for quick navigation later on.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
    Enable spambot countermeasures for guest posting<\/th>\n\u00a0If enabled, forces guest posters to use anti-spambot measures (captcha) when posting.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
    Allow quick reply<\/th>\n\u00a0Enables the quick reply option for posting.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n

    Limit editing time<\/th>\nThe amount of time a member has to edit their post. Setting this field to 0 disables theis feature.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
    Limit deleting time<\/th>\nThe amount of time a user has to delete a new post. As above, setting this feature to 0 will disable it.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
    Display last edited time information<\/th>\nIf enabled, displays the last edited information for a post.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
    Flood interval<\/th>\nThe time that a user must wait in between posts.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
    Bump interval<\/th>\nThe amount of time (minutes, hours, days) that a post must wait before it can be bumped.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
    Topics per page<\/th>\nThe number of topics displayed per page.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
    Posts per page<\/th>\nThe number of posts displayed per page.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
    Smilies per page<\/th>\nThe number of smilies (emoticons) displayed per page.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
    Popular topic threshold<\/th>\nThe number of posts required to be considered a popular topic.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
    Maximum number of poll options<\/th>\nSets the maximum number of options allowed per poll.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
    Maximum characters per post\/message<\/th>\nMaximum number of characters allowed per post or private message.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
    Minimum characters per post\/message<\/th>\nMinimum number of characters allowed per post or private message.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
    Maximum smilies per post<\/th>\nThe maximum number of smilies allowed per post.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
    Maximum links per post<\/th>\nThe maximum number of links a member is allowed to include in their post.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
