In this article we\u2019ll cover how to install phpList<\/strong> with Softaculous. phpList<\/strong> is a popular open source newsletter manager that will allow you to setup and manage multiple mailing lists for your domain from a centralized web accessible location.<\/p>\n

Softaculous<\/a> is an easy 1-click application installer that should be available to any shared hosting customer in their cPanel. VPS or dedicated server customer\u2019s are also able to purchase a license for Softaculous in AMP<\/a> to have it installed on their own server.<\/p>\n

To get started simply follow the steps below.<\/p>\n

  1. Login to your cPanel<\/a>.<\/li>\n
  2. \"click-on-softaculous\"<\/a>\n
    <\/div>\n

    Under the Software \/ Services<\/strong> section, click on Softaculous<\/strong>.

    Next click on the Install<\/strong> link toward the top-right of the page.

    Now you\u2019ll be presented with the Software Setup\u00a0<\/strong>page. From here you can configure exactly how you\u2019d like to have phpList installed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n
    Choose Protocol<\/th>\nTypically left at the default of https:\/\/<\/strong> unless your main site is setup to always re-direct to https:\/\/www.<\/strong> in which case you\u2019d want to select that option. If your site has a SSL certificate installed on it you could also choose either of the https:\/\/<\/strong> options.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
    Choose Domain<\/th>\nSelect the domain name you\u2019d like phpList<\/strong> installed to.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
    In Directory<\/th>\nThe relative directory to the domain you\u2019ve selected, where you\u2019d like phpList<\/strong> installed to. In this example we are installing it to the PrimaryDomain.com\/list<\/strong> directory, so you only need to enter in list<\/strong> as the directory name.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
    Database Name<\/th>\nThe name of the database that phpList<\/strong> will create.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
    CRON Job<\/th>\nSet the scheduled time that phpList<\/strong> should run its background tasks. By default it will be set to:\n

    17 8 * * *<\/code>
    \nThis is set to run on the 17th minute<\/strong>, of the 8th hour<\/strong>, every day<\/strong>, every month<\/strong>, and every weekday<\/strong>. Or in lamens terms 8:17AM<\/strong> local server time every day.<\/p>\n

    In most cases this default setting is perfectly fine, and you can always adjust it after installation as well if you notice it\u2019s having issues running at the time selected.<\/p><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n

    Site Name<\/th>\nWhat you\u2019d like to call your phpList installation<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
    Table Prefix<\/th>\nThe prefix used for your database, the default of pl_<\/strong> should be fine.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
    Admin Username<\/th>\nThe admin username you use to access your phpList installation.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
    Admin Password<\/th>\nThe admin password you use to access your phpList installation.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
    Real Name<\/th>\nThe display name you\u2019d like to use for your phpList administrator account.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
    Admin Email<\/th>\nThe email address of the administrator.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n

    After filling out all of this information, click on Install<\/strong>.<\/p><\/li>\n
