Another type of question that is useful for teachers in the Moodle 2.3 Question bank<\/a> is the Short Answer question<\/strong>. Short answer questions can include a short phrase or a word that can match the correct word or phrase. For example, if the question is What does W3C stand for?<\/em>, the student will need to match the answer World Wide Web Consortium<\/em>. The answer can be set as Case Sensitive and also have more than one answer in some cases. This type of question will need to be short. The longer the answer, the more likely the students will not be able to answer it correctly. Here is how to create the Short Answer question.<\/p>\n

Creating a Short Answer Question in Moodle<\/h3>\n

  1. Log into the Moodle Dashboard<\/a><\/li>\n
  2. Navigate to Front page settings<\/strong> > Question bank<\/strong> > Questions<\/strong> in the Settings<\/strong> section to the left. Click Create a new question<\/strong>. Select Short Answer<\/strong> (represented by the \"short icon) and click Next<\/strong>.

    On the Adding a Short answer question<\/strong> page, enter the General<\/strong> settings for the question (settings explained in the following table) .

    Category<\/strong><\/th>\nAllows the question to be added to a particular category for organizing the questions.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
    Question name<\/strong><\/th>\nThis is a short name for the question for identifying the question in the question bank.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
    Question text <\/strong><\/th>\nThis is the question the student will see.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
    Default mark<\/strong><\/th>\nSets how much the question is weighed in points.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
    General feedback<\/strong><\/th>\nThis section communicates information about the question when the student answers the question.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
    Case Sensitivity<\/strong><\/th>\nThis setting allows the Administrator to require the answer to be exactly typed in upper and lower case.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n
