When receiving emails on the server, there may be a need for filtering specific email addresses that are coming into the server. Emails can be Discarded, sent to another email address, or delivered to a program with the User and Account Level Filtering. This tutorial will explain the Global and normal Email Filtering<\/span> within the cPanel. Filtering emails on the User and Account level<\/h3>\n

  1. Log into your cPanel<\/a><\/li>\n

    For individual account level filtering Navigate to the Email<\/span> > Email Filters<\/span> in cPanel. <\/p>\n

    On the Email Filters<\/span> page, click the Manage filters<\/span> link in the row of the email account that is having filters set up. <\/p>\n

    The Edit Filters<\/span> for your@emailaddress.com will open up. Click the Create a New Filter<\/span> button to add email filters. <\/p>\n

    In this article, Yahoo.com will be used for the filter. The filter will send any emails from a Yahoo.com email address to the Junk folder. Set the Filter name<\/strong>, Rules<\/strong>, and Actions<\/strong> and click Create<\/strong>. The action in this case will be Junk. Below is a description of what each Option<\/strong>, Operator<\/strong>, and Action<\/strong> does. <\/p>\n

    Subject<\/strong><\/td>\nThis will filter by the subject of the email.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
    To<\/strong><\/td>\nThis will filter the email by who it was sent to.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
    Reply Address<\/strong><\/td>\nFilters by the reply address to who the email will be replied to.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
    Body<\/strong><\/td>\nScans the text of the email for any matches and filters according to the text of the email..<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
    Any Header<\/strong><\/td>\nScans specific criteria found in the Headers of the email.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
    Any Recipient<\/strong><\/td>\nLooks at all recipients of the email.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
    Has not been previously delivered<\/strong><\/td>\nFilters emails if they are still in Queue on the server..<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
    Is an error message<\/strong><\/td>\nLooks at errors received by auto responders.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n

    Email Filter Operator Rules<\/h2>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n

    Equals<\/strong><\/td>\nMatches exactly what is put in the box.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
    Matches Regex<\/strong><\/td>\nA Regular Expression<\/a> can be used here..<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
    Contains<\/strong><\/td>\nWill match if the email has the string of characters in it.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
    Does not Contain<\/strong><\/td>\nWill match if the email does NOT have the string of characters in it.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
    Begins with<\/strong><\/td>\nBegins with the characters that were typed.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
    Ends with<\/strong><\/td>\nEnds with the Characters that were typed.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
    Does not begin with<\/strong><\/td>\nDoesn\u2019t begin with the characters that were typed.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
    Does not end with<\/strong><\/td>\nDoesn\u2019t end with the Characters that were typed.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
    Does not match<\/strong><\/td>\nDoes not equal the characters typed.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n

    Email Filter Action Rules<\/h2>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n

    Discard Message<\/strong><\/td>\nDeletes the message with no Failure message.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
    Redirect to Email<\/strong><\/td>\nSends the email to another email address.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
    Fail with Message<\/strong><\/td>\nDeletes the email and sends a failure message..<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
    Stop processing rules<\/strong><\/td>\nDoes not run any filter rules.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
    Deliver to folder<\/strong><\/td>\nSends the email to a specified folder.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
    Pipe to program<\/strong><\/td>\nSends the email to a program or script on the server.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n

    Once the filter is created there should be a \u201cYou have successfully created a new filter<\/span>\u201d message.<\/p>\n

    When visiting the Edit Filters<\/span> section again, the new filter will be in the list of filters. Here is where the filter can be edited or removed. <\/p>\n

    Next the filter can be tested to see if its doing what is required. At the bottom of the edit filters section, change the To:<\/strong> and From:<\/strong> emails or the subject<\/strong> (depending on how you set up the filter) to test the filter. Click Test Filter<\/strong>. <\/p>\n
