When first setting up the Moodle site, the administrator will want to edit the Home page or Front Page<\/strong> to display the correct Course information. This can be done in the Settings<\/strong> section on the left of the Moodle home page. The following tutorial will focus on the Moodle 2.3 Front page settings. Editing Front page Settings in Moodle<\/h3>\n

  1. Log into the Moodle Dashboard<\/a><\/li>\n

    The Front page settings<\/strong> section will display with the options for editing the Front page. Edit the Settings and click Save Changes<\/strong> when done. Below is a brief description of what each setting is for. <\/p>\n

    Front Page Settings<\/h2>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n

    Full site name<\/strong><\/td>\nFull name<\/strong> of the Moodle site.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
    Short name for site (eg single word)<\/strong><\/td>\nThis is a one word shortname<\/strong>. The short name will not be displayed on the website.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
    Front page description<\/strong><\/td>\nThis is a summary<\/strong> of what the course is about. This will show in a box at the top right side of the default template.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
    Front page<\/strong><\/td>\nThe frontpage section is for setting what will load on the main home page of the site when anyone visits the site. The Frontpage can have New items<\/strong>, List of Courses<\/strong>, List of Categories<\/strong>, or a Combination<\/strong> of both.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
    Front page items when logged in<\/strong><\/td>\nThe frontpage items when logged in section is for setting what will load on the main home page of the site when a logged in user visits. The Frontpage can have New items<\/strong>, List of Courses<\/strong>, List of Categories<\/strong>, or a Combination<\/strong> of both.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
    Maximum category depth<\/strong><\/td>\nThis will allow the administrator to create as many sub categories needed for the Courses.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
    Include a topic section<\/strong><\/td>\nDisplays a topic section on the Front Page. The Default<\/em> is set to Yes<\/em>.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
    News items to show<\/strong><\/td>\nAllows multiple News items to display on the Front page.The Default<\/em> is set to 3<\/em><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
    Comments displayed per page<\/strong><\/td>\nSets the amount of Comments that will be displayed on the Front Page. The Default<\/em> setting is 15<\/em>.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
    Courses per page<\/strong><\/td>\nControls the quantity of Courses that will display on the Front Page. The Default<\/em> setting is 20<\/em>.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
    Default frontpage role<\/strong><\/td>\nThe Default role can be set for the Front page. Student (student)<\/strong>, Guest (guest)<\/strong>, or Authenticated user on frontpage (frontpage)<\/strong> are the available options for this value.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n
