Our example was a very short post, but if you write a very long post, then entire post will show on your homepage (as in the screenshot to the right).<\/p>\n<p>You can make your homepage look much cleaner if you add a <strong>Read More<\/strong> button within the article. In this tutorial, we\u2019ll show you just how to do that.<\/p>\n<div style=\"clear: both;\"><\/div>\n<p><strong>Adding a Read More link in Joomla 3.0<\/strong><\/p>\n<ol class=\"article_list\">\n<li><a href=\"\/support\/edu\/joomla\/joomla-3\/how-to-log-in-to-administrative-dashboard\/\">Log into your Joomla 3.0 admin dashboard<\/a><\/li>\n<li><strong>Open the blog post you want to edit<\/strong>\n<p>In the top menu, click <strong>Content<\/strong> and then click <strong>Article Manager<\/strong>. Within the list of articles, click on the title of the article that you want to add the <em>read more<\/em> link to.<\/p><\/li>\n<li><strong>Add the read more link<\/strong>\n<p>Within the article editor, place your cursor where you want the read more link to appear. Then, under the editor, click the <strong>Read More<\/strong> button. You will notice a red dotted line appear within the editor, which shows where you just inserted the button.<\/p>\n<p>Joomla is actually adding the following code to the article: <\/p>\n<pre class=\"code_block\">&lt;hr id=\"system-readmore\" \/&gt; <\/pre>\n<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"\/support\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/09\/edu_joomla-3_blog_read-more-button-seen-on-homepage.gif\" rel=\"lightbox-0\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" alt=\"read-more-button-seen-on-homepage\" class=\"std_ss\" height=\"639\" src=\"https:\/\/www.inmotionhosting.com\/support\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/09\/edu_joomla-3_blog_read-more-button-seen-on-homepage.gif\" style=\"margin: 0px 0px 15px 15px; float: right;\" width=\"800\"><\/a>\n<div style=\"clear:both;\"><\/div>\n<p>When finished, click the <strong>Save<\/strong> button at the top left of the page.
