Your Joomla 3.0 website may send many emails, so it’s important to ensure your email is setup properly. For example, Joomla can send emails when new users register, and it can also send new emails when comments are posted on an article. Joomla can use different methods to send these emails, such as the php mail function, sendmail, and SMTP. In this tutorial, we will walk you through the steps for updating your email settings within Joomla 3.0<\/p>\n

To update your mail settings in Joomla 3.0:<\/strong><\/p>\n

  1. Log into your Joomla 3.0 admin dashboard<\/a><\/li>\n
  2. Click Global Configuration<\/strong> in the left menu<\/li>\n
  3. Next to Site<\/em> and System<\/em>, click the Server<\/strong> tab towards the top of the page<\/li>\n
  4. Find the heading labeled Mail Settings<\/em>. Fill in the appropriate details underneath, and then click the Save<\/strong> button in the top left of the page.\n

    Joomla 3.0 gives the following description for each email setting:<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n
    Mailer<\/th>\nSelect which mailer for the delivery of site email.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
    From email<\/th>\nThe email address that will be used to send site email.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
    From Name<\/th>\nText displayed in the header “From:” field when sending a site email. Usually the site name.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
    Sendmail Path<\/th>\nEnter the path to the sendmail program directory on the host server.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
    SMTP Authentication<\/th>\nSelect Yes if your SMTP Host requires SMTP Authentication.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
    SMTP Security<\/th>\nSelect the security model that your SMTP server uses.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
    SMTP Port<\/th>\nEnter the port number of your SMTP server. Use 25 for most unsecure servers and 465 for most secure servers.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
    SMTP Username<\/th>\nEnter the username for access to the SMTP host.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
    SMTP Password<\/th>\nEnter the password for the SMTP host<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
