In this guide, we will explain what error reporting is in Joomla, go over the available options, test the settings, then show you how to change them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><a href=\"#what-is\">What is Error Reporting<\/a><\/li><li><a href=\"#options\">What Options Are Available for Error Reporting?<\/a><\/li><li><a href=\"#testing-results\">Our Testing of the Error Reporting Setting<\/a><\/li><li><a href=\"#change-setting\">To Change the Joomla 3.0 Error Reporting Setting<\/a><\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"what-is\">What is Error Reporting?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>One of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.inmotionhosting.com\/support\/\">Joomla 3.0&#8217;s Server Settings<\/a> is <strong>Error Reporting<\/strong>. Joomla gives the following description for this setting.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Error Reporting<\/strong><br><em>Select the appropriate level of reporting from the drop down list. See the Help Screen for full details.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If you click the help button on the page, it unfortunately does not give any information yet at this time.<a name=\"options\"><\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"options\">What Options Are Available for Error Reporting?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The following options are available for Error Reporting:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>System Default<\/li><li>None<\/li><li>Simple<\/li><li>Maximum<\/li><li>Development<a name=\"testing-results\"><\/a><\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"testing-results\">Our Testing of the Error Reporting Setting<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>To test the different options that are available for Error Reporting, we created a simple syntax error in the mod_login module by removing a ; from the PHP code. We then went through the various <strong>Error Reporting<\/strong> settings to see what type of error would be reported. As the <em>none<\/em> setting implies, no error messages are shown on the screen.<a name=\"change-setting\"><\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"change-setting\">To Change the Joomla 3.0 Error Reporting Setting<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"article_list wp-block-list\"><li><a href=\"\/support\/edu\/joomla\/joomla-3\/how-to-log-in-to-administrative-dashboard\/\">Log into your Joomla 3.0 Dashboard<\/a><\/li><li>Click <strong>Global Configuration<\/strong> in the left menu<\/li><li>In the tabbed menu, click the <strong>Server<\/strong> tab<\/li><li>Find the <strong>Error Reporting<\/strong> setting under the <em>Server Settings<\/em> heading.
