InMotion Hosting offers Shared Hosting Plans, featuring cPanel. If your previous hosting company uses cPanel, then migrating your website(s) can be done easily, using a cPanel backup.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a name=\"evaluate-cPanel\"><\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Evaluate Your cPanel Account<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>cPanel includes an excellent Backup\/Restore Plugin that will restore an entire cPanel account from a backup file, created within the same cPanel interface. A full cPanel backup will include the user&#8217;s home directory (website files, emails, etc), cPanel settings, and MySQL Databases. Consider the following limits when evaluating your website for migration through the cPanel backup\/restore process.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Hosting Plan Limits<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>While evaluating your cPanel account and websites, be sure to review your hosting plan features to ensure the number of websites and databases included meets your needs. You can always <a title=\"Click here to navigate to our guide and learn how to up\/downgrade your Hosting plan using your Account Management Panel (AMP).\" href=\"https:\/\/www.inmotionhosting.com\/support\/amp\/upgrade-downgrade-hosting-plan\/\">up\/downgrade your hosting plan<\/a> to accommodate adding or removing websites later. However, for example, in order to restore a cPanel account with six (6) websites (6 websites = 1 Primary domain + 5 Add-on domains + 6 MySQL databases) a Power plan would be required. If you purchased a Launch plan, in this case, you would need to upgrade your hosting plan, in order to support the restored cPanel account.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"alert alert-info\"><b>NOTE: <\/b>InMotion Hosting Business Class Hosting and cPanel WordPress plans are limited to one (1) cPanel user. If you host multiple websites, be sure that they all exist in one cPanel account. If you require multiple cPanel accounts to host your websites, the following hosting plans allow you to maintain multiple accounts, via cPanel&#8217;s Web Host Manager (WHM): Reseller Hosting, VPS Hosting, and Dedicated Server Hosting.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">cPanel Account Size<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Only cPanel accounts that are <i>less than 5GB<\/i> in total size may be migrated using the Backup\/Restore functionality built into cPanel. When <a href=\"https:\/\/www.inmotionhosting.com\/blog\/website-migration-checklist\/\">evaluating your website(s) for migration<\/a>, you will need to check the total size of your cPanel account. You can find your cPanel account size by logging into cPanel and locating &#8220;<b>Disk Space Usage<\/b>&#8221; under the <i>Stats<\/i> section.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Click on the button below that represents the size of your cPanel account (at your old host), to expand additional details on how to proceed with migrating your website.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><button class=\"btn btn-success\" type=\"button\" data-target=\"#under5gb\" data-toggle=\"collapse\">&lt;5GB Accounts<\/button><\/p>\n\n\n\n<div id=\"under5gb\" class=\"out collapse in\" style=\"height: auto;\">\n<p>If your cPanel account is less than 5GB, please <a title=\"Click here to continue to the next section of this guide: Generate a cPanel Backup.\" href=\"https:\/\/www.inmotionhosting.com\/support\/edu\/cpanel\/cpanel-backups\/\">continue to the next section<\/a> and generate a cPanel backup at your other host.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<p><button class=\"btn btn-danger\" type=\"button\" data-target=\"#over5gb\" data-toggle=\"collapse\">5GB+ Accounts<\/button><\/p>\n\n\n\n<div id=\"over5gb\" class=\"collapse out\">\n<p>If your cPanel account is 5GB (or more) in size, the cPanel Backup Plugin may not have the capabilities to generate a backup file. In this case, you can manually migrate your website(s) following the steps in our guide: <a title=\"Click here to navigate to our guide and learn how to use cPanel to migrate your website, if your cPanel account is more than 5GB in size.\" href=\"https:\/\/www.inmotionhosting.com\/support\/website\/migrate-website-from-another-host\/\">How to Migrate Your Website <i>from<\/i> another host <i>to<\/i> InMotion Hosting<\/a>.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<p><a name=\"generate-cp-backup\"><\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Generate cPanel Backup<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>To generate a cPanel backup, follow the steps in our tutorial: <a title=\"Click here to navigate to our guide and learn how to make a backup of your cPanel account at your old host.\" href=\"\/support\/edu\/cpanel\/cpanel-backups\/\">Backup Your cPanel<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"alert alert-info\" role=\"alert\"><b>NOTE: <\/b>Be sure to log into your old host&#8217;s cPanel to create the backup needed to migrate your website(s).<\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>Then, <a title=\"Click here to continue to the next section of this guide: Download Your cPanel Backup.\" href=\"https:\/\/www.inmotionhosting.com\/support\/edu\/cpanel\/cpanel-backups\/\">proceed to the next section<\/a> to download the old host&#8217;s cPanel backup you just created <i>from<\/i> your old host <i>to<\/i> your computer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a name=\"download-cp-backup\"><\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Download cPanel Backup<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>After you have generated your cPanel backup from your old host&#8217;s server, download the backup file to your desktop <a title=\"Click here to navigate to our guide and learn how to use FTP to download the cPanel backup.\" href=\"\/support\/website\/ftp\/getting-started-guide\/#connecting\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">using FTP<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Then, proceed to the next section to upload the cPanel backup you just downloaded <i>from<\/i> your computer <i>to<\/i> your InMotion Hosting Account.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a name=\"upload-cp-backup\"><\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Upload cPanel Backup<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Now, <a title=\"Click here to navigate to our guide and learn how to use FTP to download the cPanel backup.\" href=\"\/support\/website\/ftp\/getting-started-guide\/#connecting\">using FTP<\/a>, upload the cPanel backup file (you just created and downloaded) to your InMotion Hosting server.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a name=\"wtr\"><\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Request cPanel Account Restore<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Once you have uploaded your cPanel Backup, <a title=\"Click here to navigate to our guide and learn how to submit a Website Transfer Request.\" href=\"https:\/\/www.inmotionhosting.com\/support\/website\/ensure-successful-website-transfer\/\">submit a Website Transfer Request from your Account Management Panel (AMP)<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Simply, fill out the <i>Website Transfer Request<\/i> form and include these details in the <b>Additional information to help us locate your data<\/b> section.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Authorization to overwrite the existing cPanel account, with the restored cPanel account. (<a title=\"Click here to scroll down to view the warning regarding restoring an existing cPanel account.\" href=\"#warning\">See warning below)<\/a><\/li>\n<li>Location of your cPanel backup file<\/li>\n<li>Name of your cPanel backup file<\/li>\n<li>Comprehensive list of websites expected to be restored from backup file.<\/li>\n<li>Comprehensive list of databases expected to be restored from backup file.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-group alert alert-info\"><div class=\"wp-block-group__inner-container is-layout-flow wp-block-group-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>Please keep the following in mind when requesting a cPanel Account Restore:<a name=\"warning\"><\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Customers can request assistance with restoring as-is free cPanel backups from a previous hosting provider.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Website Transfer Service doesn&#8217;t guarantee removal of hack content<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Website Transfer process doesn&#8217;t include the transfer of Domain Registrations or emails accounts.&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Emails associated with a cPanel account backup are restored as-is<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"alert alert-danger\" role=\"alert\"><b>WARNING: <\/b>Restoring a cPanel account from a cPanel backup file will overwrite the existing user&#8217;s cPanel data (including website files, emails, databases, etc.).
