Astra\u2019s Key Features<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Astra is extremely lightweight and performant, using only \u201cvanilla\u201d JavaScript without the render-blocking jQuery library.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Astra has hundreds of starter templates available through the Starter Templates plugin, allowing you to quickly find an appropriate look for your business or blog.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Astra is fully integrated with the WordPress Block Editor, or you can choose to use a popular page builder like Elementor or Beaver Builder.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Getting Started with Astra<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

To install the Astra theme, navigate to Appearance -> Themes<\/strong> and click Add New<\/strong>. Because it\u2019s so popular, Astra is usually displayed among the first few themes on this screen, but you can also search for Astra. Click Install, <\/strong>then Activate<\/strong>.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Upon activation, you\u2019ll see a prompt to install the Starter Templates<\/strong> plugin. This is the easiest way to begin your site\u2019s design, so it\u2019s recommended to go ahead and click Let\u2019s Get Started with Starter Templates<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Choosing a Starter Template<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

You\u2019ll see an option to try Astra\u2019s new AI website builder, which is free with registration for a ZipWP account. This is a new and exciting feature, but for the purposes of this article, we\u2019re covering the Classic Starter Templates.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Start by selecting your preferred page builder from the drop-down menu in the upper-right corner of the screen. Choose from the WordPress Block Editor, Elementor, or Beaver Builder.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Use the filters to narrow down your selection, or simply browse until you find a template that\u2019s best for you!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Once your template is installed, you\u2019ll see the new Astra<\/strong> menu in your Dashboard. Navigate to Astra -> Dashboard<\/strong> where you\u2019ll be able to quickly locate the most common next steps, including the Header and Footer builders, Blog Options, and Layout.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
