From time to time, you may need to put your Joomla 2.5 site in maintenance mode. Maintenance mode takes your website offline and shows visitors a custom message that you write, such as \u201cMy website is currently down for maintenance\u201d. In this article, we\u2019ll show you how to put your Joomla 2.5 site in maintenance mode and review several of the options you can customize.<\/p>\n

To put your Joomla 2.5 site in Maintenance Mode:<\/strong><\/p>\n

  1. Log into your Joomla Dashboard<\/a><\/li>\n
  2. In the top menu, hover over Site<\/strong> and click Global Configuration<\/strong>

  3. Click the Site<\/strong> tab, and modify the following offline settings:

    Site Offline<\/th>\nSet to Yes to take your website offline and put it into maintenance mode<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
    Offline Message<\/th>\nYou can set whether to hide any offline message, show a custom message, or show the message built into your theme<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
    Custom Message<\/th>\nIf you\u2019d like to display a custom offline message, enter it here and ensure Offline Message is set to Use Custom Message<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
    Offline Image<\/th>\nIf you\u2019d like a logo (or some other image to be show), use the Select button here to select it.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n
