In this article we are going to walk through what happens when someone submits a comment in our test website.<\/p>\n<h2>Step 1 \u2013 Look at the data currently in the database<\/h2>\n<p>Before we post any comments to our database, we\u2019ll want to look at our comments table to see what is in it. To do this:<\/p>\n<ol class=\"article_list\">\n<li><a href=\"\/support\/edu\/cpanel\/how-to-log-into-cpanel\/\">Log into your cPanel<\/a> and click the phpMyAdmin icon<\/li>\n<li>Click your database in the left sidebar, and then click on your table. If you\u2019re following our example, we\u2019ll first click on \u201c_mysite\u201d and then \u201ccomments\u201d.<\/li>\n<li>On the right side of the page, you\u2019ll see all of the comments submitted. To do this:<\/p>\n<ol class=\"article_list\">\n<li>Visit your first page, https:\/\/phpandmysql.inmotiontesting.com\/page1.php?id=1. It is very important that \u201cid=1\u201d is in the URL, otherwise our php code will not know which article the comment belongs to.<\/li>\n<li>Input a comment and click submit (refer to screenshot below):<br>\n<a href=\"\/support\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/01\/website_phpmysql_inserting-our-first-comment-on-a-page.gif\" rel=\"lightbox-0\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"std_ss size-full wp-image-6893\" src=\"https:\/\/www.inmotionhosting.com\/support\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/01\/website_phpmysql_inserting-our-first-comment-on-a-page.gif\" alt=\"inserting-our-first-comment-on-a-page\" width=\"358\" height=\"481\"><\/a>\n<div style=\"clear: both;\"><\/div>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>The comment has been Posted to the server and we now see a confirmation, \u201cThank you for your Comment!\u201d:<br>\n<a href=\"\/support\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/01\/website_phpmysql_after-we-have-submitted-our-first-comment.gif\" rel=\"lightbox-0\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"std_ss size-full wp-image-6894\" src=\"https:\/\/www.inmotionhosting.com\/support\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/01\/website_phpmysql_after-we-have-submitted-our-first-comment.gif\" alt=\"after-we-have-submitted-our-first-comment\" width=\"376\" height=\"532\"><\/a><\/p>\n<div style=\"clear: both;\"><\/div>\n<p>At this point, we\u2019ll want to run the test again, but this time on page2. Click the link on the page to go to page2.php and insert another comment.<\/p>\n<h2>Step 3 \u2013 Confirm that your data has been written to the database<\/h2>\n<p>Now that we\u2019ve submitted 2 test comments, we should be able to see them in the database.
