OpenCart allows you to set up weight based shipping options. Remember, this will only work correctly if you have entered in a product weight. The Product weight can be found by opening the product in the OpenCart Dashboard and going to the \u201cData<\/strong>\u201d tab.<\/p>\n

Setting up the weight based shipping method is easily accomplished through your OpenCart Dashboard.<\/p>\n

How to set up weight based shipping in OpenCart<\/h2>\n

  1. Log into your OpenCart Dashboard<\/a><\/li>\n
  2. Go to Extensions > Shipping<\/strong><\/li>\n
  3. Find the \u201cWeight Based Shipping<\/strong>\u201d method and either click \u201cInstall<\/strong>\u201d if its not yet been installed or \u201cEdit<\/strong>\u201d if it has<\/li>\n
  4. Click \u201cEdit<\/strong>\u201d if you have not already done so<\/li>\n

  5. On the General <\/strong>Tab, you will need fill in the options as needed:\u00a0
    \n\u00a0\u2013Tax Class<\/strong>: Choose the Tax Class that this shipping method applies to\u00a0
    \n\u2013Status<\/strong>: Choose to enable the shipping method
    \n\u2013Sort Order<\/strong>: Set the numerical value of the sort order to be displayed<\/li>\n
  6. The tabs listed under the General <\/strong>tab are all of your Geo Zones. Each Geo Zone will need to be configured to use the weight based shipping module. Let\u2019s go through one Geo Zone and set it up. If you\u2019re not familiar with Geo Zones<\/a> please see our article.

    Rates<\/strong>: This is weight:cost, weight:cost, weight:cost<\/em>, etc. (so if you want to ship 5lbs of merchandise for $10 you\u2019d enter in 5:10.00)
    \nStatus<\/strong>: Decide whether to enable this shipping method for this Geo Zone<\/p><\/li>\n

  7. Once you are done setting up all your shipping rates for weights click \u201cSave<\/strong>\u201d in the upper right corner<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
