OpenCart is a free, open-source shopping cart. In this tutorial, we will show you how to manually install OpenCart.<\/p>\n

Please note<\/strong>: If you are an InMotion Hosting customer, you can install OpenCart using Softaculous<\/a>, which will be much easier than manually installing it.<\/p>\n

  1. In the first step, you will need to download OpenCart <\/strong>from the OpenCart website
    \n    OpenCart Downloads Page<\/a> \"open_1\"<\/a>\n
    <\/div>\n<\/li>\n
  2. At this point you need to create a MySQL database<\/strong> and assign a user to it. Assign the user ALL Privileges<\/i><\/strong>. Write this information down so you can refer to it during the installation process below. If you are not sure about how to create a database in cPanel<\/a>, please read our article.\n

    Note that OpenCart does not allow special characters in the database password field, so when you create your database user within the cPanel, be sure to NOT use any special characters in the password, only letters and numbers.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

  3. Next, you will want to extract the zipped file in the same location as you downloaded the compressed package. Once that is complete, use your FTP client to connect to your website<\/a>. OpenCart can be installed anywhere, but for this tutorial, we\u2019re installing it in a directory we\u2019re calling \u2018opencart\u2019. Upload the extracted files to your InMotion Hosting account<\/strong>.\u00a0<\/li>\n
  4. Open the extacted files and upload the contents of the folder labeled \u201cupload\u201d to your destination via FTP.\n
  5. Visit the store\u2019s home page. In our tutorial since we installed it in a directory \/opencart which is a subdomain we\u2019ll visit the link https:\/\/opencart.inmotiontesting.com\/\"open_3\"<\/a>\n

  6. Follow the onscreen instructions. This is the step you\u2019ll need to fill in the database name, database username, and password<\/strong>. You\u2019ll also be setting up an adminstrator username<\/strong> and password<\/strong> as well.<\/li>\n
  7. Delete the install directory after the installation is complete for security purposes.\"delete_install_1\"<\/a>\n
