As a last resort you have the option to restart your VPS container from the AMP (Account Management Panel). This shouldn't be something that you'd typically ever have to do, but we are including this functionaltity just in case you are running into any issues.

When should I not restart my VPS?

When a VPS is in use, there could be disk writes going to the hard drive for a database, logs being written to, and temporary files being read from. So you should always first attempt to regain control of your VPS prior to simply restarting the whole thing.

Here are some specific cases when you DO NOT want to resort to a VPS restart right away:

  • Your website is loading slow
  • Your email doesn't seem to be working
  • Someone says they can't access your website or email
  • The VPS hasn't been restarted in awhile
  • You have a SSH connection to the server

When should I restart my VPS?

You would really only want to restart your VPS as a last resort, when no other methods of obtaining insight on your server's current load issues is proving helpful.

Here are some things you'd want to make sure to check PRIOR to attempting a VPS restart:

Because a VPS platform is still shared between multiple customers, in very rare instances, you might have a temporary issue on your own VPS due to something outside of your control. This is why it's very important to not simply resort to a VPS restart at the very first sign of an issue.

If you do suspect any problems at all with your VPS, please contact technical support to ensure any issues are isolated strictly to your VPS container.
