# Backup files

When it comes to making a backup of your website files, there are many options available.

If you just wanted your email and website files you could create a [partial cPanel backup](https://www.inmotionhosting.com/support/edu/cpanel/cpanel-backups/). If you also wanted to grab a copy of your database for safekeeping, you could either [backup your database in cPanel](https://www.inmotionhosting.com/support/edu/cpanel/cpanel-backups/) or [backup your database in phpMyAdmin](https://www.inmotionhosting.com/support/edu/cpanel/cpanel-backups/).

If you wanted every last detail of your account backed up, then you’d want to go with a [full cPanel backup](/support/website/backing-up-your-cpanel/).

If you have a larger cPanel account you wouldn’t want to use the built-in backup tools, and instead you could [create a FTP backup](/support/website/create-backup-using-ftp/).

If you are planning on making changes to a file on your server, you might want to think to [backup a file before editing](/support/website/backup-a-file-before-editing/).

Finally if you’ve used Softaculous install an application to create your website, you can also [backup your Softaculous install](/support/product-guides/softaculous/create-backup/).
