What Can I Do With The Ruby Programming Language?

Ruby is a powerful interpreted language. “Interpreted” means it uses an executable file (coded in C) to translate your code and produce the desired output. This means you can skip the compilation phase, which in some cases means you can code apps more quickly and easily. The Ruby program itself, which allows Ruby apps to run, is present in most popular operating systems, using Mac OS and various Linux distributions. This wide level of support makes Ruby a highly popular language to learn.

What Is Ruby On Rails Programming Language Used For?

Ruby on Rails is a web-app framework. Built on the Ruby programming language, Rails provides unique support and libraries specifically designed for building powerful web applications. According to the Rails website, popular apps such as Basecamp, Coinbase, Kickstarter, Zendesk, and many more, use the framework.

If you are planning on learning a web framework it is recommended that you start by developing a strong foundation in the underlying language: in this case Ruby itself. In terms of web frameworks, it is also a good idea to have a solid grasps on web languages like HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.

  3. Why would I need Ruby if I do not have Ruby On Rails to support it? This is the main reason I move to this hosting company: to use Ruby on Rails. Please someone advise. I have the business plan and I need to clearly know what is the plan that actually supports Ruby on Rails.

    Thanks
