# Blacklist Checker

## What is a blacklist?

Due to the prevalence of **spam** in our online world today, there are a number of publicly available resources on the internet that list servers that have been identified as sources of spam activity. These lists, commonly referred to as **blacklists**, are used by many email providers to reduce the amount of spam received by their users.

## Is my server on a blacklist?

If you received a **bounceback message** when you attempted to send email, it may be informing you that your email was **blocked due to abuse**. In this context, abuse usually means the server was used to distribute spam. The bounceback message means the system has identified you as a source of spam based on one of the available blacklists.

If this is the case, you can [use our Bounceback Message Parser to learn more about the error](https://www.inmotionhosting.com/support/tools/bounce-back-parser/). If the email was returned due to a blacklisting issue, the tool will give you the option to notify our Systems Administration team to review the issue further.

Use the tool below to determine if your [server’s IP address](https://www.inmotionhosting.com/support/edu/cpanel/how-to-find-your-shared-ip-address-of-your-server-in-cpanel/) is found on any of the following blacklists:
