How to Create Posts with Press This WordPress provides a tool called Press This that you can use to take content from the web and use within your posts or pages. Originally a plugin, Press This ease of use and convenience to quickly add content to your WordPress page was so useful that it has become an integrated part of the normal WordPress installation. The following tutorial shows you how to setup the tool in your browser and then use it to create content.


The Press This tool is integrated into all the new WordPress installations. In order to access it, you will need to be logged into the WordPress Administrator. The following instructions will show how to integrate into your browser tool bar. Note: Your toolbar would need to be visible in order to see the shortcut icon to the tool.

  1. Login to WordPress.
  2. In the menu at left, scroll down then click on Tools.
  3. drag and drop Press This icon into menu tool bar

    Here you'll see Press This at the top of the Tools list. Click and drag the Press This icon into your bookmarks toolbar.

This completes the installation of the tool!

Using Press This

Using Press This you can quickly go to a website, select content, immediately drop it into editing screen and then publish it onto your website as a post. Follow the directions to learn how to use the tool.

  1. drag and drop Press This icon into menu tool bar

    Find some content through your internet, then click on the Press This icon that you previously installed to your toolbar.

  2. drag and drop Press This icon into menu tool bar

    This will immediately open the content to the Press This editor page. You will have the option to add other media, add text,bookmark the page, save the draft, preview it (as a post) and then publish it. Add your own content to the post and then save the draft or publish it to your WordPress site by clicking on the button in the bottom right side of the window.
