# Joomla! 3.6.4 – Security Release and Bug Fix

| Who is affected? | This update is for 3.x series of Joomla. It applies to two security vulnerabilities and a bug fix for two-factor authentication. |

The Joomla! 3.6.4 update is primarily a security fix addressing [Account Creation](https://developer.joomla.org/security-centre/659-20161001-core-account-creation.html) and [Elevated Privileges](https://developer.joomla.org/security-centre/660-20161002-core-elevated-privileges.html) (Joomla 3.4.4 – 3.6.3). There is also a bug fix that applies to two-factor authentication ([#12497](https://github.com/joomla/joomla-cms/pull/12497)). The release only contains the security fixes and the bug fix. Otherwise, the core files are the same as the Joomla! 3.6.3 release.
