administrative effort: VPS vs. shared hosting

I am currently in a shared hosting plan. Am considering upgrading to a VPS plan. Can anyone tell me if there are additional administrative or maintenance efforts I have to consider if I move to a VPS plan? I am running a site with a shared SSL certificate, that includes PHP and MySQL apps. Also a site with a WordPress install. I have some CRON jobs running PHP scripts. One of my PHP apps occasionally sends out an email or 2, and allows for an occasional file upload. Would a move to VPS cause me to have to structurally change my PHP apps? (I only do relative URL links, not absolute). So do I need to do my own backups in a VPS plan, install my own SSL certificate when needing to be renewed, etc. etc. Thank you in advance.

Hello Chuck, Thanks for the questions about upgrading to a VPS and what effect it would have for your management tasks. Honestly, it would be the same environment, and there would be no structural changes that you would need to make. You would have more control with a VPS account through WHM. I hope this helps to answer your question, please let us know if you require any further assistance. Regards, Arnel C
