Hello, Thanks for the question. The main reason for FTP is to have access to the files so that you can download/upload files. Access for FTP is only manipulated through the folders that you give access. You can't give access to a top folder and then try to deny access to a folder beneath that folder. Additionally, FTP is not open to everyone unless you give them access. So, your folders are not directly accessible through FTP. You can create FTP accounts and designate the folders that these accounts can access. If you are referring to denying access to your files via HTTP (through an internet browser), then you would use the .htaccess file to deny access. I hope this helps to answer your question!
