I have PS 1.5.6.2. I have some problems with images not being secure: logo and slider. Is it a smooth transition to upgrade to prestashop 1.6? Will this fix the image issue?

Hello Gordophysio,

Thanks for the question. The answer to this question needs to be qualified. If you created a PrestaShop site and used a basic theme or you didn't make any radical customizations, then it will be very smooth transition. However, if you are very particular about where everything is supposed to appear and you used a custom theme that was NOT responsive, then you may run into some difficulties. PrestaShop 1.6 does not modify the base files of PrestaShop 1.5, but it does radically change the way the website is displayed because everything on the storefront becomes responsive in the default theme. You will also find your self needing to become familiar with the Administrator back end as they have changed its look considerably and things may not be exactly where you expect them to be.

That being said, I do highly recommend PrestaShop 1.6 as it a definitely leap forward in the capabilities of PrestaShop 1.6. The longer you do not upgrade, the more you will make it difficult for yourself when you have to upgrade in the future.

I hope that helps to clarify the question for you. This is also a good time to upgrade as many people have already done so. This means that many of the problems you're having will have been addressed already.

Regards,
Arnel C.
