Slow Server Load time

My site is getting a slow load time of around 1.7s to 2.2s when I ping it. What should I do to speed it up?

The server has become very heavy

Hello, the access to my site has become really heavy even if it is still in creation and without visitor and my client is not at all satisfied.

My friends suggested that I go to another host which is (to be honest with you) even faster. So please if there is something to do to remedy this problem tell me. Thank you

Server 130 very slow
Server 130 is loading very, very, very slowly - often timing out. Non-database driven sites seem ok, though still load pretty slow.
Very slow server load

Server is slow to load
Good Morning,

I have a problem with my website. For some reason, the charging time is very long and slow. Why do I have this problem? Is there any way to fix it? Or is it that the server can not load faster by the amount of content?

Thanks you for everything.

Best regards.
Server's slow but all data claims it's working fine ?

Hey all,

We have been with InMotion for about 6+ years and have never had this issue. Starting on the first Monday in 2020, we got an influx of clients claiming our service was slow, and it seemed to be. Even just our landing page was taking quite a while to load and our app that we sell which sends an http request to the server to get license data was timing out.

That seems to have passed, but user's continued to have really slow download time of the desktop programs we sell stored on this server. Some of our employees have the same issue, some do not(they tried at home) - but the server is showing everything is working fine.

I am downloading the file at 200 kb/s while another file around the same size is downloading at 2.5 mb/s and my computer is quite fast.

Any ideas?

oh crap thank you. Was just in a rush and forgot, much appreciated. I'll read over

I've contacted the advanced tech support we qualify for like 7 times and they keep saying everything looks fine. So I thought I'd try the board

It may be a good idea to check with the Managed Hosting team as well. If this is more a matter of optimization than any single thing being wrong, they could take a look and give you an estimate of the type of work that would be needed to improve things if it was something they were able to work on.

Firstly, thank you very much for responding.

Sorry, I should have posted that info.  It is a dedicated server, and it started right after holiday break and nothing was changed by us since well before that. Perhaps some small file changes but nothing on server settings.

We may have more users but I doubt these numbers would be an issue:

It is essentially a landing page that pretty much just sends users to our main website - and then is used for file storage and our license management system. We wanted to have a server just for that to limit possible traffic issues. I did not see a System Health icon, but the cpanel in the link provided for that looks different than ours.

Thanks for further clarification! I removed personally identifying information from your post for your privacy.

The nature of Dedicated servers, and the custom configurations they have, mean that it's really best that you contact our Advanced Product Support team directly. They'll be able to directly connect to your server and get a clear idea of what is going on.

Having a Dedicated server means all of your support contacts automatically qualify for the APS team. Provide them with the information you provided me and they will be able to check for any issues likely causing the problem.

It's tough to guess when you're running what sounds like a VPS or Dedicated server. There are so many custom configurations that go into that, it can be hard to narrow down the exact issue.

Do you have significantly more users/visitors in recent weeks compared to the last six years? It could be that you're just hitting the limits of your bandwidth for the first time and will need to either optimize or upgrade to add more.

If that does not sound likely based on your current user statistics, I would check your currently running processes. Something may be behaving unexpectedly. Lastly, try running some traceroute tests. It may not be your site itself, but a node somewhere between the site and your connections.

Good morning, Thank you for your question about a slow loading website. So, I took the URL you provided and ran it through the GTMetrix tool (https://gtmetrix.com/reports/209.182.200.165/V612RLC5). As you can see in the report, you have over 150 requests being made. This is a very high number of requests to load one page. I would look for ways to reduce the number and size of the requests. You can also see in the test, that there's a number of things that Google recommends you do (see the PageSpeed tab). You should look at enabling GZip compression and minifying your Javascript and CSS files. This will reduce your overall payload being delivered to the browser. You can also look at optimizing how to leverage browser caching. I hope this helps! Let us know if you need anything else. Thanks! Tim S

Hello, Thank you for your question on improving slow ping times. I am not seeing any slowness when pinging the site. It could have been intermittent, or it could be specific to the route your signal is taking to the server. When you are seeing abnormal latency, you can also perform a traceroute test. This gives more specific information about the route the signal is taking. It will tell you where the routers are and how much time it is taking between 'hops'. This can help identify any area that may be having issues and slowing down the signal. Kindest Regards, Scott M

Hello Tor, and sorry to hear that you're having issues.

There are many things that can lead to a server usage problems.

I went ahead and removed your username from this post, as this is the public Q&A section of our website.

You would want to submit a ticket for specific help on an issue like this.

Hello Mike_In_SantaBarbara,

Thank you for your question. I checked your server and it has not been experiencing issues. I also reviewed the sites you have hosted with us, and they are all loading quickly for me.

Is there a specific site that is having issues?

I also recommend running a ping / tracert at the time this occurs, to ensure there is not a connectivity issue. Here is a link to a helpful article titled "Why is my server slow / how do I run a ping and tracert test?"

If you have any further questions, feel free to post them below, or contact live Tech Support.
