Why do we need to open a FTP Account ?

I have been using FTP to upload and download files to PC or website. I notice that we can open a FTP Account in this FTP, but I am curious why do we need to open a FTP account, what is the purpose ?

Hello, Thank you for your question. FTP stands for File Transfer Protocol, and is used for transferring files between you and your server. For more detailed information, I recommend reading our FTP Getting started guide. You can also create additional FTP accounts in cPanel; this is useful for providing additional, limited, or temporary FTP access. For example, you have a developer that needs access to a specific folder, you can create an FTP account for them, then delete the account when their job is complete.
