How do I remove the favicon which is showing InMotion Hosting's logo for all my websites?
Duplicates 3
Insert Favicon in Browser
To whom it may concern,

I am having difficulty uploading my favicon to the browser. I have followed some of the instructions posted, but clearly missing some steps. Please note the steps attempted thus far:

- once in file manager, clicked on "pub ftp root"
- in file manager settings, public ftp highlighted
-uploaded favicon file
- checked "overwrite existing files"
- note modes:
Read x x x
Write x
Execute

- clicked on "public ftp link"; showed addition of "favicon" file
- clicked on code editor; showed:

- said file to be edited

- "disable encoding check" NOT clicked

- "please select character encoding to use when opening this file "utf-8" (selected)

- clicked "edit"; screen was all encrypted, thus closed screen (unedited)

At this point, clicked on file and deleted in File manager

Please advice.

Thanks in advance

how can I get my favicon to show up instead of inmotion's

In my wordpress site, i have chosen my own favicon, but it doesn't show up.  Instead the Inmotion favicon shows up.  How do I get mine to show?

Why does my favicon not work on my website?
Hello,

my favicon does not work.
First I uploaded a finished favicon.ico file to the root public_html folder. As it did not appear, I tried to upload a jpg-file and rename it to .ico as mentioned in the tutorial. Did not work again.
Just to make sure, I uploaded the favicon.ico also to the very root directory, but it does not appear.

The link I am using in my html-file looks like this: an I added type="image/x-icon" / inside the tag when I used the .jpg-file.

What did I do wrong? What (root) folder does the .ico-file have to be stored in? Any comments on the tag?

Thanks in advance!

Hello, Thank you for contacting us about removing the InMotion Hosting favicon. There are a few different ways to do this. You can follow these steps to point to your own favicon. Or, you can replace the default favicon.ico file in your public_html directory with your custom favicon. Please note, however, your browser may not reflect this change right away. You may need to refresh your cache or try a different browser to see if the change has gone through. Best, Christopher M.

Hello picneewatch,

Thank you for your question. I recommend following our guide on adding a favicon to your website, then let us know if you get stuck on a specific step.

When you open edit the code of a page, it may look encrypted, but look or search for a: <title> tag and add the code in step 5 to it.

If you have any further questions, feel free to post them below.

Thank you,

Hi suncoaster77,

Thanks for posting your question. I'm more than happy to assist you. I've looked over your website and it appears the favicon loads as expected. It appears a green square with a leaf cut out of the center. Are you still having issues with your favicon? If so, what website/ folder are you working in?

Also, try clearing your web browser cache and see if that corrects the issue.

If you need further assistance please feel free to contact us.

Thanks!
