After the welcome messages, FileZilla says:

Command: AUTH TLS

Error: Connection timed out after 20 seconds of inactivity

Error: Could not connect to server

and it repeats...

Tried with and without VPN.

cPanel -> FTP connections shows "There are no active FTP connections for your account."

Please help! Thanks a lot!

Error in Filezilla configuration

I folowed inmotion's youtube tutorials to configure filezilla but keep getting an error saying that it cannot connect to server. Is there anything else I can do?

Cannot connect to FTP using FileZilla and correct credentials
I appear to be unable to to connect to my FTP. I'm using the latest version of Filezilla. I'm able to connect to other hosts just not inmotion. It simply tells me that the connection attempt timed out. I'm 100% sure all of the credentials are correct as it accepts them before attempting the connection. Any ideas? I'm currently waiting for live chat but I decided to post here since the queue is pretty large.

Sorry I don't quite understand your question but I will provide as much info as I can. I'm connecting to my ftp server with username and password as usual.

I checked my 'shared server IP', it is not the one showing up in the welcome message.

You should use the IP that shows in your cPanel. If that doesn't work, you should contact Live Support with more information for help troubleshooting via logs.

Hello,

Thank you for your question regarding FTP. What settings are you using including the server/port? Trying to contact our support department is the best choice as they can view the FTP logs while you attempt to connect which will explain the issue at hand.

Hello jrichard13, Once you are connected, you can simply upload files the same as you would move files from within your normal file manager on your computer. You can drag and drop them into the appropriate folder, or copy and paste, etc. Just be sure to place the files into the proper folders on the server. We have a video tutorial on how to manage your files in Filezilla. Best Regards, Scott M

Hello jiafeng, Thank you for the connection information above, it was very helpful. The issue is the port. Our shared servers require SSH access for the use of port 22 and SFTP. SSH access is not available for our shared server accounts. I do have an article here on how to securely connect to FTP on a shared server. This will get you set up properly and still be secure. I hope this answers your question. If you have any more questions or information specific to the issue please leave a comment below so we can further assist you. Best Regards, Scott M
