Can you confirm that if I choose not to subscribe to the new Backup System, I will still be able to use cPanel>Files>Backup manually?

How would you rate the customer service you received?

What's creating the backup files and directories under /home/ on my VPS?
Hi there! I just got off of live chat after my VPS locked up. It was found to be due to insufficient space on the drive. They deleted a duplicate backup file sitting under /home. The issue I'm having is I am not the one creating these backups. They are owned by root and I'm unable to either enter the directories or delete the files via SSH. They are in the form of: backup-3.11.2012_03-30-13_ for directory and backup-3.11.2012_03-30-13_.tar.gz for the file. Each account has a directory and file. I asked the live chat support person what was creating the files but he stated that he wouldn't be able to tell me. Since I'm not creating them but they're counting towards my quota, I think it's fair that someone should be able to tell me what is. Also, is there a way for me to delete these files without contacting customer support again? Thanks for your time!

Yes, you'll still be able to complete manual backups via cPanel Backup, phpMyAdmin, and File Manager.

Hello schwim,

Many of the backups are from last year, so you may want to have our Tier 2 remove them. We also see a current cron job that is creating backups under the schwim user.

Best Regards,
