CPanel and FTP download

What is the cost to the server in Downloading the full content directory for a Website? There are plenty of articles on backing up databases and content but my content directory is too large for CPanel. What do you suggest? Is there a better time of day or does it matter? thanks!

Hello [email protected],

Thank you for your question. You are correct in that the cpanel will not allow an account over 1GB to be backed up. I did notice a very large number of core dump files in your account, we did delete this, which removed 4GB worth of space. I also see other files that you may want to delete, some as large as 1GB. In one folder there is also an old full backup that you may also not need. You may want to just peruse the site files and delete anything you are sure you do not need. This may bring your account below 1GB.

After that is done, even if it is over 1GB, you may still bring down the files via FTP. This does take up some sever CPU usage, but if you pace it out it should not have any adverse effect on the server. Also, doing this later at night may help as there is typically less traffic on the server.

I hope this answers your question. If you have any more questions or comments on the issue please leave a comment below so we can assist you further.

Thank you!
