Getting a lot of Google indexed articles in Joomla site that do not exist. These articles show in several different catagories. Exmple: /chevy/engine-light.html is correct but also shows in /ford/engine-light.html or chevy/ford/engine-light.html.

Hi butch1, Our own Support Center here runs off of Joomla, and I've actually experience the same issue as yourself. On our end, the issue was caused by a combination of: 1. Custom code that we wrote 2. Third party extensions In short, what was happening was that not all of our components were creating search engine friendly URLs, and some of our customer code was creating bad links because of this. What you'll first need to do is find the pages in your site that are generating the bad URLs. Once you know this, then you can take the next step to correct this. For example, you need to find what pages on your site that are linking to /ford/engine-light.html. It is most likely this linking that is causing the page to get indexed by Google. What I suggest is using a Tool like http://www.xml-sitemaps.com/ to create a sitemap of your site. If that sitemap contains /ford/engine-light.html then you know you have other pages within your site linking to that bad URL. Keep us updated on how the sitemap goes, and we'll see if there is anything we can do to help further. Thanks! - Brad
