There are a few different ways to go about moving content from one email address to another.

You can try using the file manager, going into the /mail directory, finding the relevant site directory, and copying the directory for the old email over to the new email.

The problem is, the email isn't going to automatically 'adjust' to the new address. You will then need to SSH in to the server as root, which is only going to be possible on a VPS or Dedicated Server plan, and manually adjust the relevant shadow files. Unless you've already done something like this before, this is quite an undertaking!

Thankfully, there is a much, much easier way to go about this.

  • Create the new email address.
  • In a mail client like Outlook, Mac Mail, or Thunderbird: connect to both emails simultaneously.
  • Drag the contents of the old email address to the new one. If you have a folder structure you need to maintain, do so one folder at a time. The mail client should take care of the rest!

It's a bit slower, but it's much less likely that you will run into an error!
