I'm having a similar frustrating problem with my domain name which has been working fine up until Monday, August 9th.  I have contacted support on two days and they tell me everything is working fine when it is not working fine.  I cannot access my sites because they are blocked.  I'm currently searching for another webhost because I'm not being helped.

Hello Shawn Sheehan,

Our sincerest apologies for your frustrations in getting this issue resolved.  I was not intially sure what domain is involved, but I was able to find an account and the latest chat transcript with our support team.  I have escalated the matter to a supervisor, and they will reach out to you once they have investigated the issue.

If you have not already done so, please make sure that your internet browser cache has been cleared. The error will continue to appear if your browser is pulling up a cached version of the page from when you were having issues. As per the tech's notes, I was unable to duplicate the issue here as well, but if you're still seeing it, then there may either be a lingering problem, or we simply are not looking at the website in the same manner as you.

For info regarding the error, the SSL_Error_RX_RECORD_TOO_LONGthere usually are 2 causes to this issue:

  • Port mis-configuration (should be set to 443)
  • Server not supporting the updated TLS version

This can be fixed by technical support if you do not have root access to the server (or the technical expertise to make those changes).

If you want a good third-party reference to this error, please check out: How to Fix theSSL_ERROR_RX_RECORD_TOO_LONG.  They also include some steps that you may want to try if you're using an older (and not updated) version of Microsoft's internet browser.

Apologies again that you continue to have issues with your website.  Please let us know if you are not contacted or if the issue persists.

If you have any further questions or comments, please let us know.

Kindest Regards,

Arnel C.
