Website worked fine prior to the migration to the new server. I never changed anything to my website. Now I am being told by support that I have a get a developer to look into this because they don't know happened. They tried to deactivate a plugin but when they did half of the web content was missing. The error message that comes up is "There has been a critical error on this website."

Hello,

I am sorry to hear about your website issue. From the error message you provided it sounds like the website is a WordPress based website. The error can be caused by multiple issues:

  • - PHP config (Memory limit being hit, connection timeout, or other php value limits being used up)
  • - Database configuration error (May have the incorrect database name or password)
  • - Plugin issues (May be good to check but as it worked beforehand then I would not think this is the cause
  • - Corrupted .htaccess file

I would recommend you enable or have support enable WordPress debug mode as per shown here: https://www.inmotionhosting.com/support/edu/wordpress/wordpress-troubleshooting/

They should be able to find the root cause for  this issue that way. Hope this was helpful! If it was not I would recommend you open a support ticket with inmotion support at

Thanks!

Hello,

Thank you for contacting us about a theme issue after a WordPress migration. If you suspect a theme issue, I first recommend switching to a default theme such as Twenty Twenty-Two. Also, try the suggestions posted by Mario Cano on this thread.

Thank you,

John-Paul
