Why are emails with a spam-status of 5+ delivered when the local filter is set to a status of 33? This seems to happen even when the rule uses +'s or spam score #.#.

JT SpratleyThanks for the quick response.  Good vs. Bad, a really harsh choice. I may not have worded my issue correctly,  After setting Spam Assassin, and global, we also set an email filter.  In my case, this last line of defense have been set at:  +++, or 30 or 3.0 depending on the metric selected.  But in all cases, messages with scores above the limit are delivered to my devices.  The other filters set at 9 for deletion and 8 as automatic spam listing work as expected.  The challenge is some needed mail gets caught up in the lower levels, so I've been trying to 'fine tune' the filter.  I've found the +++/spam status? mechanism to be more effective, but blunt.  Began using the other metrics with finer granularity but unfortunately less success. So, are these tools simply marginally effective of have I misunderstood the settings or use?We use the webmail filters/spam tools because email is delivered to several devices, so limiting the number of unsolicited email benefits all locations. Thanks for any help and a better understanding of the [email protected]

I recommend you ensure you strengthen email authentication and check your Spam Filters blacklist and whitelist are up to date. You may also want to check your Webmail and email app spam settings.
