I want to download folders to a USB flash drive on my system using CP File Manager. But when I select a folder the DOWNLOAD menu item is grayed out and unusable. How do I download folders?

Hello! So, the bad news is that by default the built in cPanel file manager doesn't make it easy to download the entire account from within File Manager itself. cPanel expects you to create a comprehensive cPanel backup and download that (if you do, don't forget the databases as mentioned in the guide!).

If you aren't downloading the files to have a backup but instead to work on the site files, you can always compress the directory you want in cPanel (right click the folder and select Compress, then download the compressed folder).

Another solution, if you just want to upload and download a lot of files quickly, is to set up an FTP client like FileZilla. These are specifically designed for the job of uploading and downloading server files and can make the job much easier. Hope that helps!
