How do I change a web address and keep all of the content from the original address?

I need to change an address for one of my websites and would like to know what is the easiest way to do so. Thank you.

The best way to do this is going to depend both on what kind of website you have and if this is the 'primary domain' in cPanel or not. 

If this is your primary domain, you would simply change the primary domain on the cPanel.

If the domain in question is an addon domain, the best thing to do is create the new domain as an addon before moving the files over.

All of that changes if this is a Wordpress site!

For Wordpress sites, your best plan of action is to clone the site using Softaculous, making the cloned site use the new domain. That way, all of the relevant files have already been updated. You can then move those files in to the appropriate location after following the previous steps!

Remember, before making a change like this, it's always a good idea to make a full backup in cPanel, or some other kind of backup!
