Wildcard for Spam Assassin Blacklist Entry doesn't appear to work

I'm getting spam emails from websites ending in "@mail.ru".

If I enter the exact email address (for example "blacklist_from [email protected]", Spam Assasin was stopping emails, but then the spammer began creating/using new addresses (still ending "@mail.ru") and I want to created a "blacklist_from *@mail.ru", but the wildcarded entry doesn't seem to work.

Any idea what I'm doing wrong or how I can correct this?

Hello,

Sorry for the issue with the wildcard not working.  You should be able to use the domain with a wildcard (as you have done)- *@.mail.ru - if that is a real domain.  Quite often, these types of emails show one email address and actually use another.  Check the email addresses by going to the plain text SOURCE view of the email.  I'm not sure what email client you're using, but all of them usually have a way to see this version of the message.  You can then see the real address that's being used.  If the problem continues, give us a little information (if you're a customer, then account information would help us look at the issue in more depth), or contact our live technical support team via phone/chat/email for more immediate assistance.

If you have any further questions or comments, please let us know.

Kindest Regards,
