Hi there,

I have a website on WordPress. Website is getting not much traffic, but I am having an issues with my old hosting provider. I am looking to migrate my website to InMotion Hosting. I want to know which package would be best for me. I have an affiliate website providing reviews about carpet cleaners. Also guide me how can I migrate my website without losing traffic?

Hello! Thanks for taking an interest and looking into hosting your site with InMotion. I'll link you to some of our guides on the transfer process and go over a few useful details to know.

First, based on your description of your site and its currently low traffic, I would suggest either our Shared Hosting plan or our WordPress Plan. Both plans can host WordPress sites, both plans use shared servers (which keeps the price low) and both plans provide cPanel, Softaculous, email, and other features. The main difference is that the WordPress Plan uses NGINX servers optimized for WordPress. These servers have caching designed to make WordPress sites run faster.

This article provides an overview of our website transfer process. Essentially, you submit a request to our Transfer Team and, after preparing your website for transfer, they will move the site to our servers. You'll then have time to check out the site after-transfer to make sure there were no issues.

My main advice for these transfers is to start them before your other hosting is set to expire, so that there are no time constraints if anything needs further adjustment or to be re-transferred, you aren't going to run into trouble.

If you wanted to try transferring a copy yourself while leaving the site at your previous host up and running, you can always transfer using a WordPress backup plugin. While the exact method varies from plugin to plugin, you essentially just create a backup on your old account and then restore the site on our servers like you were restoring a backup. You don't even need to point your domain at us to check on the status: you can use something called a 'hosts file modification' to view a site as it exists on a given server, even if the domain doesn't point there. Hope that helps!

How many websites can I host in shared hosting as well as wordpress hosting. I have other sites as well. Will I have to buy hosting separately for them?

This depends on how many addon domain and subdomain are allowed for your hosting plan. On our Shared Hosting page, it's noted as "Up to X Websites" for each tier hosting.
