Why do my email accounts have multiple “junk” folders? I did not create them.

Most of my email accounts have more than one junk folder even though I did not create them.  Junk emails are supposed to be diverted to a junk email folder.  But this never happens.  Junk emails vanish without a trace.  This has been an ongoing problem for two years...what’s with it?

Hello PJS,

I recommend checking your spam settings. For example, if you are using SpamAssassin, it will create a junk box to store emails when a message flagged as spam comes in. Also, check any filters you are using in email. For example, there may be a rule set up in Webmail or Outlook to automatically delete any emails that have been flagged as spam.

If your problems persist, check your mail logs additional clues or record of the email transmissions.
