Hello Dean_Hall,

Thank you for your question regarding websites and subdomains. To clarify, "websites" refers to addon domains, which are domains added onto your cPanel account that are capable of hosting discrete websites with unique domain names. For example, a cPanel account may have a main domain "example.com", but it can also have a certain number of addon domains such as "example-info.com" or "example-test.net", which can be used to host individual sites that are not associated with the main domain in any way.

Subdomains, on the other hand, are linked to their parent domain and will necessarily contain the parent domain in the URL. For example, a domain "example.com" can have many subdomains such as "test.example.com" or "info.example.com". These subdomains are capable of hosting individual sites as well, however their URLs will always contain the original domain name.

As such, both subdomains and addon domains can be used for individual websites, however addon domains allow for a wholly unique site that is not tied to the main domain name.

I do hope this clarifies matters, please let us know if you have any further questions.

Best Regards,
Alyssa K
