I want to transfer my existing hosting with inmotion (shared hosting) from [domain 1] to [domain 2]   How do I do that?   (I'm not very tech savvy.)

How would you rate the customer service you received?

The best way to do this is going to depend on a few things. I'll try and answer in as easy to follow a way as possible!

1) Is this the primary and/or only domain on your account?

If so, take backups and then switch your primary domain.

If you have a WordPress site, you may need to change the home/site_url and possibly do a find-replace on the database.

You can alternatively use the WP Migrate DB plugin (installed and used before you change the domains) to handle those name issues for WordPress sites!

2) Is this an addon domain?

If so, add the new domain to your account, use file manager to move or copy the old site's files to the directory for the new domain, and then, as above, change the WordPress details of the site if needed.

Note: Please make sure that the domain is purchased and pointed at the appropriate nameservers.

This is a very straightforward procedure if you're familiar with it, but can be a bit daunting the first time you try. If you like, I'd suggest creating a ticket in AMP for our 24/7 Support Team to take care of it.

Thanks, Ronnie.  I contacted Inmotion support and they swtiched the hosting from the old domain to the new one.  Easy peasy.

I'll keep your reply handy in case I need to take additional steps with Wordpress.  (I don't know what the heck I'm doing.)
