Why Is Sending an Email Really Slow?
I'm using phpMailer and SMTP authentification to send mails with secure##.inmotionhosting.com
Just a single mail to a yahoo.fr address takes about 13 seconds (that is just the duration of the phpMailer.send() function call).
Why is it that slow? are you performing specific anti-spam actions or something?
Anyway to reduce that time?

Thanks for posting your question about sending emails via PHP and it taking a long time. There could be a number of reasons for this. I'd suggest reaching out to Support to look into it further. We do run some basic spam checks on outgoing email but it should not affect the time to send the actual email. It could be how the server is communicating with the Yahoo France server. Support can take take a look and help you further.
