Magento2 - 500 internal server error on checkout submission

After I enter my credit card information and hit submit, a 500 internal server error is returned and the data is not added to the database. I've don't some research and others suggest this could be an error in authorization, either in a folder not having proper write permissions or not being able to write to the database. I only have one user for the database and all other writes work. Any help would be much appreciated.

Hello Stephen, Sorry for the problem with the Magento 500 internal server error - data not added to the database. Based on what you are saying, are you able to add a user to the database? Typically, a SQL database can have multiple users assigned. If you can do that and then change the database user credentials, you might be able to solve the issue of writing to the database by changing the database user in your Magento settings. If you are unable to do that, please let us know. You may also want to check out the Magento forums. If you have any further questions, please let us know. Kindest regards, Arnel C.
