Problems with Transferring WordPress.com Site to InMotion Hosting

I'm having trouble transferring my wordpress.com site to my now wordpress.org site hosted by inmotion hosting. I switched the nameservers through my wordpress.com site to the ones specified for inmotion. I was then able to begin creating my wordpress.org site. However, I noticed that I couldn't completely transfer my domain because it is still within the first 60 days of purchase. So now I can still edit my site that is hosted on inmotion, but also the one on wordpress.com. I'm now having issues accessing my wordpress.org website on different computers. It's a big mess, I know. I guess my question is, will all this be resolved once I am able to transfer my domain after the 60 day period?

Thanks for your help!

Hello, Sorry for the issues with accessing your WordPress site due to the domain issues. First, let's distinguish the installations. The WordPress.org installation is often called a stand-alone installation, as it is hosted on a hosting server of your choice. The WordPress.com installation is hosted directly by WordPress. The stand-alone installation can be accessed if you have already installed it. If you used the domain name for the installation, then there is a way to access it even though the domain name has yet to be transferred. This method of accessing it requires modifying your HOSTS file. It will allow you to assign a specific IP address to a URL. Here's a tutorial that will help guide you through it: Modifying your Hosts File. If you're on a Mac, then you should see this tutorial. Note that this method (used by many developers) is restricted to a computer where you have modified the hosts file. So, if you wanted to access it on different computers, you'd have to make a hosts file modification on each system. This solution is good because once you are prepared to move your domain name so that it points to us (after the 60-day restriction is lifted), then you don't have to change a thing in the configuration since you're using the same domain name. I hope that helps to answer your question! If you require further assistance, please let us know! Regards, Arnel C.
