IPN issue with Virtuemart

Recently, we began receiving emails from Virtuemart stating that there is an error with the payment papal on our store. When checking the log file, we find:

ERROR validateIpnContent: Error while posting IPN: , 0

In short, the paypal transaction works properly and funds are actually transfered. However, within Virtuemart, the receipt emails are no longer sent to the admin and customer and also the order status is not updated from pending to confirmed. (It appears this began sometime early July, 2016).

Last night, I set the IPN credentials within the Paypal account but we still have the same problem. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Sorry for the problem with the email notifications coming from your Virtuemart not appearing to be working at this time. It is possible that the server is not allowing the emails based on authentication issues, but we would need to know the email address is being used for our error log searches. If you are getting any bounce-backs in regards to these notice delivery failures, it would also help to pinpoint the problem. I would recommend trying to change the outgoing email settings to use SMTP if possible. Otherwise, please provide us more information on the problem so that we can look at the logs to see if we can find a direct cause of the problem.
