When I try to use the backup/migrate module in Drupal 7 to backup the entire site to the manual backups directory, I get the PDOException: SQLSTATE[HY000]: General error: 2006 MySQL server has gone away error. Has anyone else had/fixed this issue?

Hello, Sorry to hear you are getting a 'MySQL has gone away' error when backing up your Drupal 7 site. This error is normally associated with the need to change the MySQL configuration settings. You can see the specifics via this article from the Drupal site. These settings live in the my.cnf file and, if you are on a shared server, cannot be changed. That would require a VPS or Dedicated server. First, however, I would check with Live Support to see what the settings are for your account so that you can confirm or rule the settings out. Kindest Regards, Scott M
