WordPress Multisite config issues

For our WordPress site hosted here on projectorquest.com we originally set it up normally as a single site. We now are trying to make it a Multisite network using the guide here: http://codex.wordpress.org/Create_A_Network

I followed the steps involved including creating a wildcard subdomain (*.projectorquest.com) through the cPanel. When I access our WP Admin Panel it appears to be setup correctly. However, when I add a site and try to "Visit" it (buyquest.projectorquest.com), I only get what looks to be an ftp listing just displaying a cgi-bin folder. And then when I try to click on the Dashboard link for the new site (buyquest.projectorquest.com/wp-admin), I am given a 404 error of the page cannot be found.

I have scoured the net trying to find out what could be causing this issue but haven't found any help. I also created a post in WordPress Multisite support forums but have not received a response either. Any assistance with what could be causing this issue to look into would be appreciated.

I've also uninstalled multi-site and restarted the multi-site from scratch following the directions here: https://premium.wpmudev.org/blog/uninstall-multisite/ but still run into the same problems.

Hello Buyquest, Sorry for the problem in setting up your multisite installation of WordPress. I normally also advise using the WordPress codex for good information for installation on anything in regards to WordPress. However, in this case, if you're a customer of InMotion, then you may want to use Softaculous for this particular installation - it's much easier and very quick. However, since you're on a VPS, you will need to purchase a license for the installation of Softaculous. This can be done through your Account Management Panel (AMP). I recommend Softaculous for this type of installation, but if you want to troubleshoot this installation, we need a little more information. Please explain what you're seeing when you log into your Network Administrator dashboard. Are you adding the site there? Please explain your exact steps. What information are you filling when you create the site? Whenever I have the multisite installed for test, I do NOT create the subdirectory first. I go into the administrator and let WordPress create everything. Let us know if this helps, or provide us with a little more info so that we can investigate the issue in more depth. If you have any further questions or comments, please let us know. Regards, Arnel C.
