Reseller custom nameserver IPs?

I've read all of the documentation, but I can't seem to figure out where a second IP address for a second nameserver would be found. (I've done custom nameservers before with VPS's but never a reseller account)


Let me explain: to make my custom nameserver, NS1.GREENLANCEMEDIA.COM, I use my shared IP address found in my domain's CPANEL. However, I want to use another IP address for NS2.GREENLANCMEDIA.COM, but I cannot figure out where that address would be located. I'm aware of the IPs for ns1/2.servconfig.com, but I don't know if I should be using them for custom nameservers.


InMotion, is the single IP address I have workable for both of my custom NS1/2 ? I know I can do it in theory, but it's not a very good practice, unless this shared IP is somehow mirrored already.

Hello, Thank you for your question on custom nameserver IPs for reseller plans. Due to the way the reseller accounts are set up, there is only a single IP address that is assigned to a cPanel account. This means that it is not possible for there to be a second IP for the second name server. Using the same IP is fine, this is the setup also used by default on our VPS and Dedicated server plans. Those plans have more access and can assign specific IPs to their nameservers if they wish to have more than one, however reseller plans do not have that capability. You may want to set up the nameservers as vanity nameservers. This is when they appear to be specific to your domain name, but they use the IP addresses of the servconfig.com servers. This may be an option if you want to use two different IP addresses. Kindest Regards, Scott M
