I cannot install the child theme for my parent theme on Wordpress

I am trying to install the child theme for Quark on Wordpress. After I install the child theme I receive a notification that the theme was successfully installed, however, when I go to my themes it is coming up as a broken theme and is saying that I need to install a parent theme which is already installed.
