Do I need split DNS for my domain setup?

We are using inmotion for our email hosting right now. When it comes to the DNS records, the A records are stored on the DNS server and the CNAMEs are on the InMotion cPanel. Is that correct or should we reverse that?

Hello, Thanks for the question about your DNS records. There is some confusion in regards to the server that defines your DNS for your domain name. You can't split the DNS control of a domain name. The name servers for the domain determine which server is actually storing your DNS. According a DIG and WHOIS query, your domain is currently being managed by our domain registrar. So your name servers are pointed to us. This means that we store all of the DNS definitions for your domain. Both A records and CNAME records are stored with our servers. Since we control the DNS for your domain, you can make changes to the DNS - check out Using the Advanced DNS editor for more information. I hope this helps to answer your question, please let us know if you require any further assistance. Kindest regards, Arnel C.
